Tiger Cub Den 7

info regarding Cub Scout Day Camp
Date: 7/21/08 - 7/25/08
Location: Oak Mountain State Park
Hello Scout Parents,
As you probably are aware, the Vulcan District is having a Cub Scout Day Camp - Dino Safari activity the week of July 21 - 25, at Oak Mountain State Park. Activities will take place each day at the Park from 8:00am until 4:30pm.
I am helping to coordinate participation in the event for the pack, and I'll be working with the den leaders to help keep track of which scouts may be attending and which parents will be volunteering. We would like to get an idea of the participation level to ensure we have enough parent volunteers, and to gauge whether it makes sense for us to try to carpool (maybe meeting at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, and driving to Oak Mountain from there).
Could each of you please respond to me and/or your den leader with the following:
1. Whether you are planning for your scout to attend the camp.
2. If your scout is attending, whether you expect to be able to volunteer some time at the Park with your scout.
3. If you DO expect to be able to volunteer, are there particular day(s) that you plan to attend, or that you CAN'T attend.
For those who may need child care for siblings so that you may volunteer your time, be aware that there is a "Tot Lot" available. I understand from others that used this service last year that it worked out very well, and that the children really enjoyed the experience (cost of ~$3 / child- not sure of the exact cost- plus, the children get to be involved in many activities like those that the scouts do). According to the Camp brochure, children must be toilet trained in order to participate in the "Tot Lot".
The cost for the event is $60.00, and must be received by the Council Scout Office (along with completed registration form) by Monday, June 30th. There are discounts available for those parents who volunteer for the whole week.
If you have not submitted payment and registration forms already, you may submit them to your den leader or me at the upcoming Pack meeting on Monday, June 16th (doing so will save you postage, plus it will make it easier for us to coordinate who all will be participating from our pack); I'll plan for submitting all of the paperwork as a group on Tuesday, June 17th.
For more details and for the registration form you will need to complete, please check out the following website:

Also, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to answer them.
Regards,
Jeff Estes
